How is quarantine life treating you?
I’ve been socially distancing for years, so this is not too difficult for me 🙂
Jokes aside, this is now the third week of isolating alone in my London flat and I’m slowly turning into Martha Stewart. Nesting, decorating and ordering everything off Amazon has become my new calling in life.
How are you keeping fit during lockdown?
Thank god, all my favourite gyms/trainers are doing Zoom sessions now, which is a great aid getting out of the bed and starting the day with a vitalising routine.
My workout consists of Pilates with Paola Langella, Boxing with Boxcleversports, BodyBarre with Paola di Lanzo and Yoga with Chris Salton. If I miss any of these, I turn on the down dog yoga app or watch my own workout videos on IG or Youtube, but then listening to your own voice can be agonising sometimes.
Can you give any advice on staying healthy during this “what’s in the fridge” time?
Try to overcome your inner “Quaranswine” and swap naughty snacks and meals with healthy alternatives. Such as, quinoa and rice pasta (closest to the real deal), make your own ice lolly sorbets from frozen berries and fill up on lots of self-made soups and stews to get your veggies in.
In the end, it’s all about balance and low cortisol levels, so if you pig out, don’t beat yourself up about it. Sometimes it’s good to be bad…
You recently underwent a cleanse in Germany, can you tell us a bit about that?
It was really the most perfect timing!! I’ve been dreaming about going to Lanserhof forever and couldn’t have imagined a better Corona escape, than being surrounded by a team of the best German medics, healthy bespoke meals and the fresh air of the beautiful Tegernsee lake framed by the Bavarian mountains. I’ve done a total of 2 weeks in there and lost 4kg which for my height is a lot and I’ve never felt more detoxed and ready to tackle a pandemic, like Xena warrior princess, before.
What has been your beauty regime during this time?
I’ve been doing self-care Sunday on a daily basis, so lots of face, hair and even foot masks. This is also a great time to invest in lash growing serums (M2 Beauté is my fave), because they usually take a month or so show results. And most importantly I’m wearing no or very little make up at the moment, which is a welcoming change to my usual glam routine for filming.
I love all products of Dr.Barbara Sturm and use 3-4 serums plus moisturiser every morning and evening and my skin has never been better. My latest discovery is a self-made face and body scrub from Shanina Shaiks’ profile:
– 2 Tsp of ground coffee
– 1 1/2 Tsp of brown sugar
– 3 Tsp of coconut oil
Gently massage it into your skin for a couple of minutes, ideally in the shower, since things are bound to get very messy. Then rinse and apply moisturiser if needed, you’ll end up with the softest most buttery skin!
Being a fashion designer, are you glamming up for the living room or dressing down?
At home I literally live in lounge wear, kimonos or workout clothes, to motivate myself 🙂 The small joys of life at the moment are glamming up for Zoom meetings and the park.
Other than fitness, what else have you been doing to keep busy?
I’ve been working on a new fashion and TV project, which is a lot of fun! That’s all I can say for now…
What is the first thing you would like to do once the restrictions are lifted?
As soon as we can travel again, I’ll jump into my Naomi Campbell style hazmat suit and go on a holiday with my friends.
